About the Filmmakers

Laura and Robert Sams are a sister/brother creative duo — award-winning writers, filmmakers, performers, musicians and educators — who created (and wrote music for) all three In the Woods movies. Their company Sisbro Studios creates incredible media that truly inspires people. Their work has won over 50 international awards, from a Parents’ Choice Gold Award to a Wildscreen Panda Award (often called the Green Oscars) to the Midwest Book Award for Best Children’s Picture Book. Laura and Robert have worked with the Smithsonian Channel, Animal Planet, The Jim Henson Company, PBS KIDS, the National Science Foundation, the Save Our Seas Foundation, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Rice University’s STEMScopes curriculum and more. They created videos, music and scripts for Splash and Bubbles, a series on PBS Kids with The Jim Henson Company about fish exploring the ocean.

They have also performed at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History to international schools in Dubai. They do programs about First Snow in the Woods! How are Laura and Robert related to Carl and Jean?

Their dad is Carl’s cousin, so they are technically cousins. It is a family effort!
